The debate has been around for what seems like forever, and we’ve witnessed passionate arguments from both sides. Here at HANK & HOOK, we specialize in natural fiber yarns because we’re convinced there’s an amazing natural fiber for anything you wish to make. We decided to do a little research on the benefits and shortcomings of both so you can decide what fits into your own lifestyle. Without further delay…
Let’s face it, many of us are living in micro apartments where every square micro-inch of real estate is meticulously planned and double-booked. If you are a knitter/crocheter who collects yarn and lives in such a space, you’ll likely need a portable system for organizing and displaying your stash. On top of that, you need to think about integrating it into your overall home décor while managing the appearance of clutter.
So, I’m always on the lookout for ways to show off my stash in a 500 square foot apartment, while managing clutter AND trying to leave room for my fiancé Ahmed’s hobbies (video games and all the gadgets that come with it). I’ve rearranged our place so many times that Ahmed has had to ask me 2 weeks in a row, “Anna, where do we keep our plates?” Oops.
Here’s a roundup of 5 storage ideas for your yarn & tools:
Anna & I love to travel, so we can’t think of anything better than road trippin’ across North America to festivals that celebrate our love for fiber crafts. Check out the below list we compiled for our top picks for the year!
When we first saw her knitting project bags on Etsy, we immediately fell in love with them. Joan and I have different styles and tastes (case in point: she is a knitter and I’m a crocheter), so when we both fell in love with Jésabelle’s bags we knew there was something special about them. They are minimalistic, fashionable, portable, timeless and just straight up cool.
When Joan and I were preparing to launch our business, we discussed the kind of company we wanted to be. Both of us agreed that we wanted to collaborate with people. Whether we were hosting knit parties or working with yarn brands – it was important for us to collaborate with the people behind the products we carry. Knowing the importance of small businesses to our economy (and being one ourselves), we came up with the idea of HANK & HOOK x Artisans.
We collaborate with artisans across Canada who make tools and accessories to complement your yarn stashes. Throughout the year, we’ll be collaborating with various artisans by carrying a limited selection of their work in our store. We’ll also post an interview series called Get to Know Our Artisans so you can get to know them as well.
Jésabelle B. is our very first feature artisan. You can read our interview with her on how this collaboration came about. Don’t miss out on her limited edition bags currently in stock in our store.
