We can’t believe the year is almost over!! 2015 has been absolutely incredible for us. We launched our store nearly 6 months ago and have grown it into something we believe is truly promising. We’ve learned so much about the crafting business, about ourselves, and have picked up enough skills to survive the apocalpyse (and we’re not just talking about knitting and crochet here).
We’d also like to say a huge, huge THANK YOU. We couldn’t have done this without our amazing friends, families, and customers. Basically if you’re reading this post now, you’ve contributed to the HANK & HOOK brand in some way or another.
We’re super excited for what the new year brings! Trust me, we’ve got a ton in store for you (both literally & figuratively!). We wish you an amazing holiday, full of laughter, love, yarn, and wonderful memories.
This past Saturday, September 12th, Toronto played host to an event of epic proportions.. The city’s first ever knit party!
Anna & I had been planning this event for the past few months, so we were SUPER excited for the day to finally come. Even though we love running own online store, nothing beats meeting new friends who share a mutual love of yarn (not to mention, a mutual disdain for the city’s erratic weather).
For the event, we rented a cozy studio at the Gladstone Hotel, a boutique art hotel in the heart of Toronto on Queen West. It was everything we had wanted as our first venue – ultra trendy and in touch with the growing arts movement in Canada. We arrived an hour prior to event kick off and got started on decorating right away.
I’m sure some of you may have noticed we’ve added some amazing knit kits to our shop these few weeks. From the gorgeous Her Shawl kit from Loopy Mango to Wool and the Gang’s Lil’ Hold Tight Clutch, we are that much closer to realizing our dream – making our favorite yarns and projects more readily available to our fellow North Americans.
Partly to celebrate the introduction of these kits to our shop and partly just ’cause.. we’ll be hosting a knit party in Toronto next month – HOORAY!
When Joan and I were preparing to launch our business, we discussed the kind of company we wanted to be. Both of us agreed that we wanted to collaborate with people. Whether we were hosting knit parties or working with yarn brands – it was important for us to collaborate with the people behind the products we carry. Knowing the importance of small businesses to our economy (and being one ourselves), we came up with the idea of HANK & HOOK x Artisans.
We collaborate with artisans across Canada who make tools and accessories to complement your yarn stashes. Throughout the year, we’ll be collaborating with various artisans by carrying a limited selection of their work in our store. We’ll also post an interview series called Get to Know Our Artisans so you can get to know them as well.
Jésabelle B. is our very first feature artisan. You can read our interview with her on how this collaboration came about. Don’t miss out on her limited edition bags currently in stock in our store.
Interested in collaborating with HANK & HOOK? Get in touch with us – we’d love to hear from you.
